How an Indonesian PMU Trainer Sampled Pigments to Build Her Own Brand
REAL CUSTOMER STORY — WHOLESALE & OEM
How an Indonesian PMU Trainer Started Sampling Pigments to Build Her Own Brand
This is a real interaction we had in June 2026. We share it because the questions she asked are the same questions many training schools and aspiring brand owners ask.
If you run a PMU training school, this case shows what to expect when you source pigments internationally for the first time.
How it started
In early June 2026, a PMU trainer from Indonesia reached out to us with a photo of three brown eyebrow swatches. She said:
"I have this pigment with this bottle type. But the pigment often dry n stuck because the nozzle too small."
She already owned a pigment from another brand that she liked the colors of, but the bottle design was causing her a real problem: the nozzle was too narrow and the pigment kept drying. She then asked: "Is this pigment from your factory? Btw please let me know the price for the pigment too."
How we responded
Instead of just sending our color chart, we asked her to share what she currently uses. We sent our chart next to hers and pointed out which shades matched. The three brown shades she sent lined up with our Black Brown, Dark Brown, Brunette, and Espresso / Golden Brown — the top sellers in her market.
Samples
She asked: "Is it possible if I get the sample color first?" — Yes. She also told us she planned to visit our factory in Guangzhou — factory visits are always welcome.
She is based in Indonesia. To save on international shipping, she had a friend in Beijing who would fly back to Indonesia later that week. We shipped the samples to her friend's hotel in Beijing, and her friend carried them home.
The technical question
Mid-conversation, she asked: "What type of pigment is the highest in quality? That can fully fade after years." We gave her a real comparison:
Classic Collection (water-based): liquid, organic, for machine use, carbon-based, 3-year retention, quick absorption, for advanced artists.
Powder Collection (powder-based): hybrid (organic + inorganic), smooth-flowing, 2–3 year retention, natural pixel effect, for trainees and beginners.
We sent her EU REACH compliance, SDS, and CTL certification for the powder collection. Any reputable supplier should be able to send these on request.
She asked about private-label
A few days in, she asked: "How much for MOQ 100 pcs pigment?" She was laying the groundwork for her own brand:
- Standard OEM MOQ: 100 bottles per color, minimum 5 colors. Competitive per-bottle pricing.
- Box packaging fee: Per-thousand-pcs fee applies. (Or use our empty boxes free of charge.)
- First-time small-MOQ option: 20 bottles per color, 5 colors minimum. Higher per-bottle price but lets you test the OEM process.
- Label options: Standard sticker with your logo for free at small-MOQ; full custom boxes at higher MOQ.
- Design support: Send your logo, our design team handles the label artwork at no charge.
Final sample order
She selected 6 colors from the powder collection and 8 from the water-based line, plus supporting products: liquid latex, lip prep gel, lip nourish, microbeads repair serum, silicone practice skin, leather texture practice skin, and calming gel.
Payment and shipping
She paid via Alipay. The payment went through first time — she scanned and the transaction cleared within minutes. We used SF Express to deliver to her friend's hotel in Beijing, arriving before her friend's flight back to Indonesia.
She also sent a photo of her training class — students at multiple stations, working on practice skin and live models. Real, working, training the next generation of Indonesian PMU artists.
What this shows
For a small first-time order (well under $100 in product value), we put in the same effort as we would for a 10,000-bottle OEM contract. Technical answers, compliance documents, small-MOQ entry, on-time delivery.
Practical advice for training schools
- Start with samples, not commitments. If a supplier requires a large MOQ before testing, walk away.
- Ask for compliance documents upfront. EU REACH, SDS, CTL certifications. If the supplier cannot produce them, do not buy.
- Understand the technical difference between product lines. Water-based vs powder-based is not marketing — it is particle size, retention time, and healing behavior.
- Have a friend in China handle sample shipping if you can. It saves time and money.
- Ask about OEM before you think you are ready. A small-MOQ is enough to start a private-label brand.
- Pay attention to the supplier's communication style. If they are vague during sampling, it only gets worse later.
